5 Days, 5 Ways Lombardo Embraces Toxic Data Centers: “Gold Rush” Edition

Nevada Independent: As his gubernatorial opponent Aaron Ford questions tax breaks for data centers, Lombardo hails the tech “gold rush.”

It’s the final day of “5 Days, 5 Ways Lombardo embraces toxic data centers” and we’re debunking his attempts to rewrite history all while giving data centers $240 million worth of blank checks as Nevadans’ electricity costs continue to skyrocket.

Lombardo even called data centers a “gold rush” but in reality, there are now over 70 data centers either operating or planned in Nevada with no real evidence that they create revenue or sustainable jobs. It’s clear that this “gold rush” only applies to Lombardo’s billionaire donors and Donald Trump.

Instead of ensuring Nevada jobs and revenue, Lombardo has given data center companies hundreds of millions in tax handouts. This is Lombardo’s latest foot in mouth comment, highlighting just how out of touch he is with hardworking Nevadans.

Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Kate Sosland released the following statement:

“While Nevadans sound the alarm on data centers jacking up costs, Lombardo is applauding the tech ‘gold rush,’ making it clear yet again that he’s only focused on padding the pockets of his ‘billionaire friends’ at Nevadans’ expense.”

If you missed earlier editions, here’s the “billionaire friends” edition, tax breaks for billionaires edition, utility costs edition, and “commanding officer” edition.
